  • The Urbanball NFT collection will feature character and skills cards needed to play EX Sports’ P2E Urbanball.
  • The project aims to recognize and provide exposure to global freestyle football talents.

Binance NFT and fan engagement platform EX Sports are set to launch the Urbanball NFT collection that will feature global street football players in May, CoinQuora has learned. The drop comes before the introduction of the fan engagement platform’s play-to-earn (P2E) Urbanball.

Scheduled to drop on May 3, 3:00 PM (GST) at Binance NFT, this NFT “Mystery Box collection” will be the first of many, leading to the Initial Game Offering (IGO) of Urbanball this December. Notably, the Urbanball NFTs will be a requirement to play the game.

The first collection and the succeeding drops will comprise character cards based on real-life top street footballers, along with skill cards that cover various football techniques. Interestingly, most of the characters are based on top performers and winners of street football tournaments.

Urbanball is built on the BNB Chain and intends to establish itself as the world’s first street football game. EX Sports partnered with two-time football freestyle champion Sean Garnier to develop the project.

According to the team, Urbanball and the Urbanball NFTs were developed to “recognize the potential to nurture upcoming talent” and give them positive exposure. The project will also serve as a support to grow freestyle football, the team revealed.

Aside from the NFTs, some features of the game were also revealed, including the player versus environment (PVE) and player versus player (PVP) modes. Gamers will be expected to win their way to special rewards.

Earlier, EX Sports hosted a three-day tournament that featured five of the world’s top street footballers. The fan engagement platform has also revealed that these scouted talents will be part of the NFT drop, earning royalties through the digital assets.

EX Sports and Garnier, last year, pre-launched a similar football NFT collection at the tech event Gitex 2021 in Dubai—the world’s first NFT collection featuring freestyle football.
