Bitcoin payment service provider BitPay is teaming with payment processing gateway Simplex to enable U.S. residents to buy crypto without fees via the BitPay Wallet app using the BitPay debit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, according to a Monday (Dec. 20) press release.

“For those consumers in the U.S. who want to try out crypto for the first time, this is a straightforward way to purchase, store and spend crypto through the BitPay Wallet app integration with Simplex,” said Stephen Pair, BitPay CEO. “BitPay wants to help consumers start to live life on crypto and by working with Simplex, we make it simple to acquire crypto by eliminating the need for users to navigate to a cryptocurrency exchange to fund the wallet.”

Fees will be waived for a “limited time,” according to BitPay.

The BitPay Wallet App simplifies sending and receiving crypto, buying crypto from within the app, checking the price of crypto and securely storing funds, according to the announcement. Users can instantly buy gift cards from hundreds of retailers in store and online with Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, Wrapped Bitcoin, as well as five USD-backed stable coins.

To purchase crypto via BitPay, open the BitPay Wallet App or download it from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, Windows 10 and Linux. Click on Buy Crypto and enter the amount in U.S. dollars, select the crypto to purchase and use Simplex as the payment option.

Monday’s announcement comes on the heels of BitPay’s collaboration with gaming software firm Nexon America to enable users to buy in-game items with crypto, according to PYMNTS. The new feature allows gamers to buy using Ethereum, Dogecoin, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Wrapped BTC, Binance USD, Dai, Gemini Dollar, Litecoin, Paxos Standard and USD Coin.
